Piano Teacher and Accompanist

To teach, educate and foster a love of music through the study of the piano and it's music, specialising in the Classical repertoire. To accompany musicians of other instruments in pursuance of their aspirations, dreams, performances, qualifications and enjoyment of music. To encourage an understanding of the fundamental nature of education, and it's core value in the improvement of us all, as both individuals and as part of a world wide culture.

I need emphasise that my expertise is towards the higher end of attainment. Grade 4 and upwards to Diploma.  I have been receiving a lot of enquiries for beginners, and although I do take some on occasionally, for the moment I am not taking on any more.

After many years of teaching and performing I have finally been able obtain a good quality grand piano, a Yamaha C3X, one of the latest series of Grand Pianos developed by Yamaha. This is a 6' 1'', 186cm piano with a more European sound than the previous generation of Yamaha pianos.  This means that I now have a Conservatoire quality piano for both lessons and exam performances.  This will be particularly appreciated by more advanced students.

Very pleased to add that Katrina Fung passed her ATCL performance diploma on the piano with flying colours.  She performed the Diploma in December at a Trinity College exam visit at my house. Achieving a mark of 74/100.  A pass is 60/100.  Congratulations to Katrina, well done!  July 2019.

I am very pleased to announce that my piano student Hannah Chiu, who is currently completing her A levels at Bluecoat School Liverpool, achieved a Distinction in the Performance DipABRSM she took in December in Manchester. This is a wonderful achievement, in particular for someone studying in the State sector without the advantages of the resources available to students in Private Schools or indeed at Saturday Junior Conservatoires. Congratulations to Hannah, all her hard work and her intelligent approach to lessons and practise has been appreciated and rewarded, this distinction was well deserved. I have been teaching Hannah since she was eight years old, and for me, as you can imagine, this is a very pleasing outcome. Hannah will begin the next stage in her music education and development when she leaves school this summer. At the moment her intention is to continue her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, although she has received offers from all the institutions she has applied to. Her complete programme was: Bach - Prelude and Fugue in F minor Bk1 WTC BWV857, Schubert - Piano Sonata in A major Op.120, Debussy - La plus que lente, Fauré - Impromptu in F minor Op.31, Shostakovich - Four preludes from Preludes Op.34.  March 2021

DEAR

PIANO

I would like to thank all at Coach House Pianos, Swansea for all their help and advice and for supplying such a wonderful piano.  Their service has been exemplary, friendly and supportive.  They have made me feel like a VIP from the very first moment, and I cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone contemplating buying a quality piano whether new, like mine, or second hand.
