Piano Teacher and Accompanist

To teach, educate and foster a love of music through the study of the piano and it's music, with emphasis on the Classical repetoire. To accompany musicians of other instruments in pursuance of their aspirations, dreams, performances, qualifications and enjoyment of music. To encourage an understanding of the fundamental nature of education, and it's core value in the improvement of us all, as both individuals and as part of a world wide culture.

Now that the initial lockdown period has ended, we all look forward too some sort of normality with regard to piano lessons and for for music exams.  I have now started some limited face to face lessons with longstanding, advanced pupils, with safeguards in place.  The schools return in September, and I would hope that lessons can resume as usual.  However, I fear that this may not be there case, as the Covid 19 is still out there, and whilst infection rates are much lower than before, it has not gone away.  So we await September with some trepidation, as I cannot give any guarantee as to how things will proceed with both lesson and ABRSM exams.

After many years of teaching and performing I have finally been able obtain a good quality grand piano, a Yamaha C3X, one of the latest series of Grand Pianos developed by Yamaha. This is a 6' 1'', 186cm piano with a more European sound than the previous generation of Yamaha pianos.  This means that I now have a Conservatoire quality piano for both lessons and exam performances.  This will be particularly appreciated by more advanced students.

The results from December's Special Visit have been published and I had three pupils taking exams, one Distinction and two Merits, which is very pleasing. Planning is now going ahead for the next visit in late March, and also I am organising the local EPTA Pupils Concert which will take place on 8th March at St Nicholas Parish Church, Liverpool.

Very pleased to add that Katrina Fung passed her ATCL performance diploma on the piano with flying colours.  She performed the Diploma in December at a Trinity College exam visit at my house. Achieving a mark of 74/100.  A pass is 60/100.  Congratulations to Katrina, well done!

I would like to thank all at Coach House Pianos, Swansea for all their help and advice and for supplying such a wonderful piano.  Their service has been exemplary, friendly and supportive.  They have made me feel like a VIP from the very first moment, and I cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone contemplating buying a quality piano whether new, like mine, or second hand.
